Best of UAE

The country boasts many great places to visit
Dubai, the glittering modern city in the United Arab Emirates is one of the best places in the UAE for its natural features and its great wealth and prosperity. The city boasts many great places to visit. Much of Dubai is brand new and extremely impressive in scale. The first thing most people see when they come to the UAE is the Dubai airport, which is itself very much a UAE landmark. It is full of beautiful duty free shops with luxury goods from all over the world, that are a hint of what the rest of Dubai is like. Dubai is in a very hot climate, but the modern buildings are air conditioned and built to be very beautiful as well as functional. The skyline of Dubai is fascinating, especially at night, and particularly with the famous Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai in the scene. It would take too long to list everything in Dubai that is worth seeing, but you'll have no trouble finding them on your own in this gem of a city that brings together people from all over the world.

Buildings and roads in Dubai are meticulously kept and well managed so that they meet the highest standards. In many cases, there is machinery that can do some of the labor that used to have to be done by people. Hotels of every economic category abound, so visitors will have no trouble finding a place to stay. And Dubai is not necessarily just for the rich and famous. There are accommodations in numerous price ranges. Of course, the Burj al Arab is the most famous site on the Dubai skyline. It is unparalleled in terms of luxury. People from everywhere fly great distances to visit this landmark. Jumeirah is another example of the best of Dubai. It is a residential area in the city and is also where the famous Jumeirah Mosque is located. Dubai's modern infrastructure is the best there is, and is constantly expanding to accommodate the needs of this booming metropolis, which is a great draw for tourists from everywhere. Families are welcome to vacation in Dubai. The entertainment on offer is generally wholesome and suitable for families, and it would take a long time to exhaust all the possibilities that Dubai has to offer.

Art culture specialists are probably best able to appreciate the art and culture evident all around Dubai. Most people don't realize it, but there are substantial collections of fine art in Dubai. In the old part of the city, Al Bastakiya monument is located in Al Fahidi Fort, a famous museum. It houses a good survey of the art that is native to this part of the world. The location of the museum is interesting in itself, surrounded as it is by natural beauty. The enormous size of the monument indicates that there was great national and economic prosperity. The famous gold souk is known the world over as one of Dubai's great shopping opportunities. It, too is a famous landmark. Everyone in Dubai knows how to get to the gold souk, so don't be afraid to ask directions. You can also take a tour in the desert and ride a camel, but to make a day of it, it is best to rent a Jeep. Then you can visit the camel farm during the tour. If you've never seen a desert sunset, it is spectacular. Sand boarding is a popular recreational sport here. And you'll also have the opportunity to have a henna design placed on your hand or foot.

Abu Dhabi is another modern, slick city, with skyscrapers, but it is not as flashy as Dubai. It's more of a quietly dignified city. Abu Dhabi is the UAE's capital and is also the capital of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is located on an island that is connected to the main land with two bridges. Though some people will express dislike for Abu Dhabi, they probably haven't visited in the past year or two. Two good places to visit are the Heritage Village and the Fuel Exhibition. Another good place to see is the oldest section of Abu Dhabi, where every day fish dhows bring in their catch. Abu Dhabi is definitely a great place to visit in the UAE.

The UAE uses a currency called "Dirham" abbreviated AED, which is equal to 100 fils. Notes ranging from 5 Dirham up to 1,000 Dirham are in circulation and are accepted pretty much everywhere. To avoid extra surcharges when exchanging money, it's a good idea for travelers to bring traveler's checks either in U.S. dollars or British pounds sterling. Many cruises stop at Abu Dhabi and at the terminal in Dubai. There are easily accessible services for those with American currency. There are also cruises from Sharjah to Bandar-e-Abbas in Iran.
